Beowulf

The Wrath of Grendel
There was a very powerful monster that lived down in the darkness, growled in pain, and very impatient. Down the hall he could here the DJ playing all the different songs as the party went on. Grendel could hear the sound of the keys clicking on their phones as he knew they were texting and having a good time. This made him very angry that he never got invited to anything and had no friends. He was tired of this so he decided he would do something about it. He fought with the righteous, one against many, and won. Him himself took out 30 men alone.

The Coming of Beowulf
The next day it was all over the news and internet. People were watching glimpses of it on youtube. How Grendel filled that night with such horror. Beowulf was very strong and powerful. He decided to look up and call the strongest of his men. All together there was fourteen and they set out on revenge for Grendel. As they flew into Herot they could spot it from miles away, covered with hammered gold.

The Battle with Grendel
Grendel lived in the marsh, from the foot of mist, hoping to kill. He slipped quickly away from his swamp up to the shining golden halls, set out to kill. The sleeping soldiers were resting in those halls. All Grendel thought about was how good of a feast he would have that night. His first bite was good took no time and life was gone in a minute. He moved on to the next sleeper, but this one was different. It was a strong-hearted wakeful sleeper. As Beowulf began to fight back, Grendel at once knew that he had never met a man whose hands were harder. He wanted to run instantly. He fought against him for his freedom, not for his flesh. As Beowulf defeated the monster his arm, claw, shoulder and all.

The Battle with Grendel's Mother
If weapons came to no use then he would just use his hands. Why does fame come to the men that want that and nothing else? As his anger grew and grew he raised her and threw her to the ground by her shoulder. Then it turned, in an instant she had him on the ground to pay back her only son. Soon after they called up the fourteen Geats' brave as could be so they could arrive in Herot. After the defeat Beowulf used nothing as a trophy but Grendel's head. It was an awful but wonderful sight and warriors just stared.

The Last Battle
After the defeat Beowulf stood to say that, "I've never known fear, asa youth I fought in endless battles. I am old, now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in this tower dares to face me." Then he said good bye gave them directions off of his GPS and turned around to say one more farewell. "I'd use no sword, no weapon, if this beast could be killed wthout it, crushed to death like Grendel, gripped in my hands and torn limb from limb. But his breath will be burning hot, poison will pour from his tongue. I feel no shame, with shield and sword and armor, against this monster: when he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which of us wins. My hear is firm, my hands are calm: I need no hot words. Wait for me close by, my friends. We shall see, soon, who will survive this bloody battle, stand when the fighting is done." Then he turned and headed for the dragon. He stood in the doorway spotted by the dragon, ready for battle, settling for nothing less but slaughter. The monster came very quickly towards him. As the fire and poison pours from his mouth. The flames beat against his shield that held him protected for a moment. Then he shot the dragon with his gun. The monster drew lots of blood but didn't go deep enough. The dragon threw his hot breath at their king. Who was once an unbeatable king now a beaten warrior surrounded in flames. None of his geats came to his side they all ran for their cars. Only one stood remembering what kinship meant. His name was Wiglaf. He gave the king the courage to finish off the dragon and defeat him. Wiglaf ran to his side knowing that the king probably didn't have much time.

The Spoils
As Beowulf lie there not knowing how much longer he would last he told Wiglaf to drive to get the treasure. Wiglaf hurried to the treasure eager to recieve with their treasures. As Wiglaf returned Beowulf told him to take all his jewels and lead his people. He told the brave Geats to build him a tomb and bury him in a coffin made of jewels. And to name the tower after him so the future would remember him.

The Farewell
All of the soldiers got together and designed his tomb on the computer. They built it as he asked tall and big with lots of jewels. The day of the ceremony the Geats got on their horses and rode around the tower showing their sorrow and telling past stories of their loved leader. Cried that no better leader had ever lived.
